Recently you might have noticed that suddenly I have started offering general training classes again and doing more and more general training again, I was recently asked doesn’t this feel like you have gone backwards?
Not at all, in fact having a break has allowed to me to get my spark back for it.
For the last four years I have been specialising in Scent Sports (mainly Mantrailing & Scent Detection) and haven’t bene running any what I call general training classes, such as puppy or adult training classes however over the last year many of my clients started to chat about how they are struggling with general training and on a few occasions asked me if I would start my classes again as they learnt so much from them.
I of course initially said nope, I only do Scent sports and even thought it would be a backwards step for me and the business… how wrong was it!
Since starting classes again in April (which is almost 4 years to the date I had to stop due to a world pandemic) I offered my new style general training classes level 1, aimed at owners and dogs who wanted to now only train their dog but learn a bit more about how the training happens. I’ve taken the over ten years of experience and developed these classes to focus on what is really important to most owners and almost most importantly the dogs are learning to think not just do!
These classes are more than just training classes, I do not just teach owners what to do, I get them thinking about the how and whys of training. This means going forward for these owners and dogs they can understand how to train their dog without help.
My general training classes very much focus on quality not quantity and I only take 4 teams in each class to allow plenty of time to work with me.
Foundations (puppy), level 1 and level 2 are all building towards my levels 3 and 4 where we take everything we have learnt out into the real world and put you through your paces without a village hall in sight!
There are lots of plans going on behind the scenes for more general training classes and workshops so keep an eye out for them.
