Scent Detection is all about teaching your dog to find a target odour in a search area and in a bid to get their reward. It's not just about the dog however as you need to become a team to be able to take on some of the more challenging search areas that we use.

On of the most important parts of Scent Detection is the 'indication', this is what your dog does to tell you they've found the target odour. There are a number of different indications you can teach but the most common is the passive freeze, this is where your dog stops and freezes on the target odour until you reward them (don't worry I'll teach you how to do this). ​

The main benefits for starting Trailing are:

• Give your dog a mental workshop (this means they get tired and can sleep for hours afterwards)
